Telemarketers. Always trying to sell us a year’s supply of cat food when we own five dogs, or “jewellery for the wife”, when actually what we’ve been struggling to get for the past year is a first date…

Normally, the phone goes just at that point when our bladder gives up the fight for dominancy, or just as your boyfriend is about to answer the crucial question “What do you think of this outfit?”

How do they do it? Their timing is somehow incredibly precise and definitely a gift that could surely be put to better use – like popping out when the parking meter is about to run out perhaps?

Anyway, love them or hate them, it seems they’re here to stay – so why not have a little fun with them in the process? Had a boring day? Has this telemarketer stopped you from watching who got voted out in the semi final? Whatever the reason, Videojug is here to help you try a little something different the next time a Telemarketer calls.

You may even find yourself looking forward to their calls.

The autumn nights are drawing in… Around us, London’s media trendies are casting off their gladiator sandals in favour of cosy tights and sensible shoes. Not to be outdone, Videojug has had a bit of an Autumn makeover too, courtesy of the boys in the Design & Development Team.

True, not many people would entrust their good looks to a coven of web programmers, but we’re fearless in the face of Matrix-style leather jackets* and have held our collective breaths in anticipation as they focussed their Beautification Rayguns on the former “Discussions” area of the site.

Here’s what happened.

Behold… The new Videojug Q&A section!

As well as a new name (“Q&A” – or “Questions & Answers” to those who can’t abide abbreviation), it’s got a glossy new layout, featuring:

  • Bigger avatars so you can see who you’re talking to…
  • A nice, clear purpose: post your questions for our helpful community to answer…
  • Shiny, clickable voting buttons so you can rate how good/bad you think a question or answer is, and….
  • Speech bubbles to frame your questions, because there’s something weirdly satisfying about Bob Dylan/Spongebob Squarepants/an angry panda asking you how to cook noodles.

We hope you like it… let us know.

As ever, there’s more in the pipeline. We know you lot always have good ideas to chip in too, so if you have any requests or suggestions for the new-look Q&A section (or for anything else, for that matter), why not bung us a comment below?

Until next time,

Be good.

We’ve even helped a few scholars gain top marks in class after using the tips from this video for their science projects, which we’re delighted about!
